Sumatran Orangutan

The Sumatran orangutan is one of three remaining species of orangutan, all of which are classified as critically endangered. Like other great apes, orangutans are highly intelligent, displaying the use of tools and distinct cultural patterns. Orangutans are threatened mainly by deforestation for palm palm oil plantations, but also from hunting and the bushmeat trade.
