Saiga

At the beginning of the millennium the saiga antelope was on the verge of extinction. Although the species is still classified as critically endangered, it has been reported that as of 2022 the saiga population has risen to above 1 million individuals. This increase can be largely attributed to government crackdowns on poaching and the establishing of conservation areas. Despite the population surge, the saiga antelope still remains at risk from future increases in hunting and disease.
