Javan Rhino

The Javan rhinoceros is one of 5 remaining species of rhino, and one of the most critically endangered mammals on the planet. Rhinoceros are one of the oldest surviving species of mammal, having appeared in the fossil record around 50 million years ago. The Javan rhino is threatened mainly by poaching, which has already driven the species to extinction in Vietnam. Today, only a small population remains, isolated to an ever shrinking habitat on the island of Java.
