Forest Owlet
The forest owlet is a small species of owl endemic to the forests of central India. The owlet is threatened mainly by deforestation. This beautiful bird is also regarded as a bad omen by some locals, which has resulted in so many being pointlessly killed due to ignorant superstitions. Today the population is reaching a critically low number and the forest owlet is sadly on the road to extinction unless a huge effort is made to conserve this fragile species.
