Saola
Also known as the Asian unicorn, the saola is a large mammal native to the Annamite Range of Vietnam and Laos. The saola was first discovered in 1992. Although no formal surveys have been undertaken to determine accurate numbers, the IUCN estimates the total saola population to be less than 750 individuals. This shy and mysterious species is threatened mainly by habitat fragmentation, and by snares set in the forest which are intended to trap wild boar and deer.
